List of Open Questions
I found this interesting article on wikipedia the other day, which lists questions that have been unanswered in many categories. Some of them are really interesting, while some are just over my head, and I have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. There were a few that are easily debatable, such as: Does everyone see the same colors? Meaning, is the color “blue” that I see, the same “blue” that you see? I posted this question on another forum and got some interesting responses, and the consensus is that we all do see the same colors, while some might have some problems, like color-blindness, but for the majority, everyone see’s the same color. The key points that I can bring up regarding this would be, if we wear camofluage to blend in with the surrondings, it would look funny to be wearing pink, and orange if those were how you saw green and brown. But, then, I realized, it probably wouldn’t look that weird, because the trees and grass would be pink and orange as well. What I’m trying to figure out, is just how can you prove that the colors I see are the same colors that you see? I honestly don’t believe there is a definitive way to prove this. Someone suggested they pick and a color with a number associated with it, but hide the number, then everyone else looks at the same chart with all the colors, and tries to pick the matching color/number. The thing with that though, is, if I see that color as red, i’m going to pick the “red” on the chart, where as everyone else see’s it as “blue”, and picks that blue on the chart. So, we’ll still pick the same color/number because that’s how we see it, but, really, we would be picking different colors/numbers. If you have any theories on this, leave them in the comments please, I would like to see what other people have to say about it.
